Location: Cañada del Hoyo, Spain Duration: 8 days Research Project: Site-specific performance
With BBB Johannes Deimling, Monika Deimling and seven other candidates we did a one week study about site-specific performances. The location, a rural place in Spain with remarkable landscape, served to study it's historical, political, ecological aspects, as well as putting it in spatial context. How performance art is affected by its site and how it affects the site, was the main focus. Through studying form, aesthetics, presentation and audience perception, we explored how to expand the space, site or place and transform our perspectives and ideas.
The week was divided by doing theoretical and practical work, as well as having a big emphasis on reflection. Creating solo, or group performances; material research, site research and performances. The week was concluded with an open performance art event.
Here a small selection of photographs and video's to illustrate the process:
Location: Minerva Academie, Groningen, Netherlands Duration: 6 days Research Project: Action based performance
Research question: "how to use the body, presence and action to create works of performance art?"* Much similar to PAS #66, the week was divided into theoretical and practical assignments. Script Work and Slideshow were assignments created to guide us through this research question. The Course of Action was dissected by closely observing and analysing 'the action', designing a new action, abstracting the action and putting in into contexts of development over time and impact in space.
